Location access

Why some rooms ask for your location and how to fix "out of bounds".

Why a room asks for location

Some events are geofenced — they only work for people physically at the venue. When you join one of these rooms, your browser asks permission to use your location so GLOstiq can check you're inside the venue area.

Rooms that aren't geofenced never ask for your location.

Your location is only used to check the distance to the venue — it isn't shown to other participants.

Fixing "out of bounds"

If you see an out of bounds message, GLOstiq thinks you're outside the venue radius. Try the following:

1

Make sure you've allowed location access for the site when prompted.

2

Turn on your device's location/GPS services.

3

If you really are at the venue, move toward its centre — accuracy can be lower indoors or in big crowds.

4

Reload the room so the location check runs again.

Heads up

If you blocked location for the site earlier, you'll need to re-enable it in your browser's site settings before the room will work.
